“Why are you called “Little Red Door?””

The Agency was originally located in a World War II barrack that had been refurbished complete with a red door. Since the word “cancer” carried such a social stigma during the agency’s founding, the “Little Red Door” became more commonly used than the official name.

“Are there other Little Red Doors?”

Little Red Door’s offices are based in Indianapolis and Muncie, Indiana. If you are in need of cancer-related services and live outside of central Indiana, you are still welcome to call us and we will do our best to direct you to similar organizations in your area.

“What counties do you serve?”

Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan, Shelby, Blackford, Delaware, Henry, Jay, Madison and Randolph

“Where are you located?”

Little Red Door is located at 1801 North Meridian Street in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana, and at 2311 West Jackson Street in Muncie, Indiana.

“What hours are you open?”

Little Red Door is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Muncie: Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“Can I donate items for cancer patients?”

Yes, we accept a variety of new and gently used items that our cancer patients need.

-Gasoline Gift Cards (Fuel only preferred)
-Grocery Store Gift Cards
-Store Gift Cards (Walmart, Target)
-New and gently used wigs
-New and gently used breast prostheses and bras
-Ostomy supplies (wafers, pouches, deodorants, adhesives, wipes)
-Nutritional supplements like Boost and Ensure
-Incontinence Supplies (Bed pads, diapers, pull-ups)
-Medical equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, canes, shower chairs, bedside commodes)

Examples of items we are unable to accept include medications, hospital beds, catheters, syringes, and other medical equipment. You may contact us for information about other resources that may be able to accept these items.

Items may be brought to our agency during normal business hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Do you offer presentations or attend events?”

Yes, education is an important part of reducing the cancer burden. Little Red Door staff and volunteers conduct presentations about our services as well as cancer prevention and also participate in local events and health fairs. “What kind of services do you offer?”

Little Red Door provides a variety of services for those dealing with cancer, including transportation to treatment, nutritional supplements, medical supplies, complementary therapies, client navigation, and a camp for children with cancer. Visit Our Services page for more information.

“Do you pay for medication or medical bills?”

Little Red Door is not able to pay for medications or medical bills (except for breast diagnostics when prior authorization was received), however our Client Navigators work closely with our clients to help connect them to appropriate community resources as well as affordable health insurance programs.

“Do you pay utility bills or housing assistance?”

Little Red Door does not directly pay utility bills or offer housing assistance, however our Client Navigators work closely with cancer patients to understand their needs and connect them to appropriate community resources.

“What types of cancer do you help with?”

Little Red Door is a general cancer agency and provides a variety of services for people impacted by all types of cancer.

“Do you offer transportation?”

Yes, Little Red Door provides transportation services for cancer patients. Visit Our Services page to learn more about transportation.

“How do I qualify for services?”

Please call Little Red Door at 317-925-5595. A Client Service Coordinator will listen to your needs, determine your eligibility for services, and assign you to a Client Navigator who will provide on-going support and resources as appropriate.

“What is “Camp Little Red Door?””

Camp Little Red Door is developed for children with cancer ages 8-18. Held at Bradford Woods, 30 minutes south of Indianapolis, Camp Little Red Door maintains a medical staff and plans activities that are age-appropriate and based on each group’s skill and ability level. One sibling per camper is invited to camp once all interested cancer patients who have applied have been accepted. Camp Little Red Door provides children living with cancer the opportunity to interact in a setting where the emphasis is on fun rather than illness.
