The services and hope provided each day at Little Red Door Cancer Agency are not possible without the incredible support we receive from our community partners. IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital has been a longstanding supporter of Little Red Door, providing essential funding for our client service programs. We’d like to thank everyone at IU Health Ball Memorial for their dedication to our mission and their extraordinary generosity.

We recently interviewed Terry Pence, Vice President of Operations, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital to learn more about why they choose to support Little Red Door.

“Little Red Door is the only cancer agency in this community,” Terry said. “As the largest provider of services to treat cancer, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital knows how important an agency like this is for our patients. Data shows that patients who have supporting agencies like the Little Red Door have better outcomes than patients who don’t have this support. The patients tell us, and the data tells us that IU Health Ball [Memorial] and Little Red Door are making a significant impact for patients with cancer in our community.”

In fact, Little Red Door currently serves 247 people in Delaware county alone and more than 1,600 in the total 14 county service area. Thanks to extraordinary partners like IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, we are able to continue to provide high quality service in the community.

The services we offer are geared to meet people where they are in their cancer journey. From transportation to boutique services, clients can receive basic need support coupled with emotional support. The service goes beyond a transaction—Little Red Door serves as a source of hope along with support. IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital is able to “provide a lot of services for [their] patients, but not everything,” Terry said. “Little Red Door really helps fill the gaps. Every day, there are patients that we send to Little Red Door from our Cancer Center, and we can do so with confidence because of the history we have with Little Red Door as a valued partner.”

IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital’s support goes beyond Little Red Door. Their mission is to improve the health of the communities they serve. “There are always opportunities to help support and improve the health of our community,” Terry said. “We’re doing daily work to address community health needs—especially things like access to healthcare, tobacco and substance abuse, obesity and mental health services and social determinants of health. It is also important to be a part of grass roots organizations like the Healthy Community Alliance, a collection of more than 150 partner organizations, including Little Red Door, who together are working to better the health and wellbeing of our community.”

Thank you, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital for putting your community first. We are so grateful to be partnered with you to provide care and support to individuals in our community.
