The Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust, Inc. Awards Little Red Door Cancer Agency funding for Mammography Program

INDIANAPOLIS, IN., December 18, 2009…The Mammography Assistance Program benefiting clients of Little Red Door Cancer Agency received a big boost this month thanks to funding from the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust, Inc. Grant monies totaling $9,945 will be used to pay for screening mammograms for low income and underserved women and men in Hendricks, Johnson, Morgan and Shelby counties..

The Mammography Assistance Program assists in providing clients with clinical breast exams, screening and diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies. To qualify for the Mammography Assistance Program, clients must reside within Marion or the surrounding counties, be uninsured or underinsured and be living at or below 225% of the federal poverty level.

The mission of the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust, Inc. is to increase awareness and improve access to breast cancer screening and diagnosis throughout Indiana. The Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust, Inc. receives funds through the sale of breast cancer awareness specialty license plates. The intent of the plate's founder, a breast cancer survivor, was to create a rolling billboard to increase awareness about breast cancer for everyone traveling through life.

Monies raised from the sale of these plates allow the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust to award grant funding, such as the one awarded to Little Red Door, for projects deemed to best address the unmet screening needs of the people of Indiana.
